Mobile
Destruction Unit

State of the art, next generation destruction unit. Mitigating greenhouse gas emissions while ensuring the safety of N2O users in healthcare settings. Its mobility and user-friendly design make it suitable across a range of different environments.

Mobile Destruction Unit

Our mobile unit represents an intelligent solution that can be effortlessly relocated between treatment rooms. The unit effectively collects residual nitrous oxide from exhaled air and decomposes it in a self-supporting system with minimal energy consumption and low noise output.

Technical data

  • Reduction level (N2O) > 99 %
  • Depth, width, height 58 x 57 x 100 cm
  • Weight 70 kg
  • Power supply 230 V, 3.15 A
  • Power consumption < 100 W (During startup 800 W)
  • Noise level < 35 dB
  • Start to first use < 29 min

The mobile unit purifies over 99% of the nitrous oxide entering the system, creating a safer work environment for healthcare professionals and significantly reducing the climate impact.

The MDU has been designed with the mobility needs of healthcare professionals in mind, ensuring easy operation. The unit can accommodate a nitrous oxide cylinder, whether pre-mixed or concentrated, along with an oxygen tube, and if necessary, an associated mixing unit or titration unit.

Our mobile unit can accommodate both inhalation and exhalation equipment, along with gas cylinders. Inhalation devices like demand valves or mixers can be effortlessly mounted onto the MDU. Exhalation tubes are connected to the outlet of the unit for efficient scavenging (collecting and removing) of nitrous oxide from the ambient air, creating a complete closed system.

Reliability

The MDU has been built with a simple design, utilizing few moving parts and components, resulting in high reliability and an extended product lifespan.

The unit also features an integrated control system that continuously monitors various parameters, such as temperature and gas flows. In case of an overload, the MDU automatically shuts down to prevent damage.

Control and monitoring

Upon delivery, the device is configured for remote monitoring, and it is simple to connect the unit to Medclair's technician for remote monitoring and technical support.

General principle

The MDU is a destruction unit that utilizes a catalytic process to decompose nitrous oxide into regular air. The decomposition process requires a high temperature, and Medclair has developed a unique technique using a heat exchanger and isolation that results in a high degree of energy recycling. This significantly reduces the energy consumption required after the initial heating up of the unit.

Through the use of a catalytic process in the reactor, nitrous oxide in the exhaled air entering the MDU is purified to a degree of over 99%, breaking down the environmental aggressive nitrous oxide into nitrogen (N2) and oxygen (O2), which are the primary components of air. These gases can then be safely returned to the environment.
